Sheryl Roberts, Professional Casting Director and Executive Producer for television is offering a Casting / Audition Workshop as part of the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival, on Saturday, October 22 at 2:00pm at a downtown Santa Fe location to be announced. The cost of this workshop is $65.
Ms. Roberts is the Executive Producer for the television shows “Band Challenge” and (working title) “Santa Fe Bridal”. She has also been a Casting Director for numerous
Television Shows and Feature Films. Sheryl’s firsthand knowledge of what is expected from an actor auditioning for a role will help you whether this is your first or hundredth audition. All attendees will be filmed performing for the camera.
This workshop is geared specifically for television and film. There are major differences between acting techniques needed for stage and camera. During this workshop you will learn proper audition etiquette. You will learn what Casting Directors are looking for, and the importance of cold reading. Also discussed will be what constitutes a proper head shot and resume, as you can’t be competitive in this industry without them.
As a bonus, this workshop will include the very well known photographer, Valerie Santagto, who will take head shots. Ms. Santagto’s career spans the high fashion world of New York City and Europe for clients like Vogue, Revlon, Pierre Cardin and Harpers Bazaar. Because Ms. Roberts is holding this workshop, Valerie has agreed to take head shots, (a $125 value) which is included in the workshop fee. You will be provided with a disk containing your photos. There will be an average of 15 frames per look. Any additional arrangements you would like to make regarding your head shots will be made with Ms. Santagto after your head shots have been taken.
For your shoot, we suggest the following guidelines:
Keep it natural, which means for women, no excessive makeup and hairdos. A blouse with simple collar or a denim shirt works fine.
For men, light denim works well. No suited looks. Casual.
* For men and women, no red, white, or black tops and no busy patterns and no logos. A head shot is strictly that, a shot from your shoulders up. NOTE: Again, if there are any other types of shots you like, eg. glamour, tough guy, those must be arranged with Ms. Santagto at a later date for a separate shoot. (FYI on an audition, actors normally submit only one head shot).
If you have never had the opportunity to read for Ms. Roberts, this is your chance. And if she feels you have promise, she may just refer you to an agent.
The workshop / lecture size is limited, and pre registration is mandatory. We will not be selling tickets at the door. Please make all checks out to Santa Fe IFF.
(Taking advantage of this workshop does not guarantee that you will be cast in any production associated with Santa Fe IFF or its affiliates.)
