The Santa Fe Concert Association presents Opera star Leah Crocetto, soprano, and pianist Joseph Illick as they give an intimate one-hour recital of classical and popular songs. In the 2012 Santa Fe Opera season, Leah stars in Maometto II, playing the role of Anna. Prepare to be dazzled by the lavish and sumptuous voice of Leah Crocetto.
How often do you have the chance to see an opera star out of costume, in an intimate recital hall, singing from the heart and taking you on a journey through her favorite songs? This is your chance for such an experience and to witness an operatic legend in the making.
In the 2011 debut of this recital program, the Scottish Rite Center was sold out for these performances, with standing ovations and patrons mingling with their favorite singers after the performance at the receptions.
Leah Crocetto hails from Adrian, Michigan, is a BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize finalist and was an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera. She was a 2010 Grand Finals Winner of the Metropolitan National Council Auditions; 1st Place Winner, People's Choice and Spanish Prize winner at the José Iturbi International Music Competition and winner of a Sara Tucker Career Grant.
Leah’s European debut was in 2011 as Leonora in Il trovatore with Opéra National de Bordeaux and as soloist in Mahler's Second Symphony at the Grand Teton Festival, conducted by Donald Runnicles.
She has performed several lead roles at the San Francisco Opera. She was the soprano soloist in the Verdi Requiem with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel and will perform it again with the Columbus Symphony and the Albany Symphony. Future plans include an engagement at the Hollywood Bowl singing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, San Francisco Opera, Frankfurt Opera and the Poulenc Gloria with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In her spare time, Leah enjoys karaoke, traveling, wine tasting and making mp3 player playlists.
